A request to join should include a short message detailing a little bit about yourself, what you would like to play and so forth. Nothing too major as I do like to discuss with prospective players the options that may be open to them. I am open to new character concepts and possible plot ideas so please don't be afraid to put them foreward. The campaign world is not static and is still being developed after all these years with input from players being a major factor for that.
Any Out Of Character actions, speach, joking, insults etc must be kept to the O.O.C. Thread. Any non players can also post here (if they like).
As Dm I take the liberty of saying any ruling I make is final - however being open minded, if you have any queries or have a hankering to try something but are unsure of what the out come could be, emai/PMl me before you try, after is too late.
I also take the liberty to adding to these rules as I see fit. Again, anyone with any ideas about these are free to contact me about them.
Missed turns - If you have prior notice you are going to be absent, please post on the AFK (Away From Keyboard) thread.
IF you are unable to give notice (it does happen) then either the character will be silent or I may NPC their actions for them. I will assume you are still wanting to play, but Real Life has reared it's ugly life. Exp. may still be earned during this time, depending on what the situation is. After a couple of weeks, the character becomes an NPC, but still in the game and can still revert to PC status if the player comes back, but won't earn exp. New players may be introduced then.
After a month, the character becomes a Full NPC and is fully under my control and may be disposed of or used as I see fit - they will only earn exp as an NPC - likewise, I see it as my duty to inform all players if I have to delay or suspend updates.
A brief idea on how XP is earnt. As I'm looking for roleplaying and interaction, this will be the main source, encouters will be the secondary source. I'm looking for a minimum posting of once a week. The basic amount for a simple, single posting in one turn ( a week in real time) will be 100 xp. This can be added to if it contains above average roleplaying, ideas etc. Multiple posts will earn extra XP unless they are just mundane replies to interaction i.e the more interesting you make them the more XP will be earnt.
All characters will be updated when I get chance. Usually once a month, though it could be longer.
XP is also earnt from role playing your characters abilities. This will involve giving good written accounts of how you are using that ability. For instance, just saying that they want to use, "hide in shadows" won't earn much (if anything) where-as a full description of how the character (attempts) "to meld into the darkness".... etc would earn the points.
This will be useful for spending points when characters go up levels, as the points can then be spent on the abilities used only. So if Teefer the thief doesn't use his remove traps skill, or Brother Lee Love doesn't use his Religion nwp, then points can't be spent on improving them.
We play the "At 0 hit points fall unconcious, lose one hit point a round until
-10 then death" rule. One way to avert certain death is to bind wounds. Even some-one with out the healing NWP can tear up a shirt to staunch the flow of blood. The injured party then stops losing HP's. This is a good way of saving some-ones life until healing either mundane or magical can be applied.
The only problem occurs if healing isn't readily availible - you can move someone on less than 0 but it's going to have to be slow and steady or else those temporary bandages aren't going to be worth anything.
Whilst I handle dice rolls and update the onsite character sheets, I expect the player to keep track of mundane things like equipment, spells cast and Hit Points. The character sheet box on the gmae board is very useful for this.
If you aren't clear on anything, then please ask, you can contact me via the game site or by emailing me. |
