Chandros, God Of Birth/Death/Rebirth |
Chandros is usually depicted as a Dwarf dressed in dark, cowled robes. As he is often refered to as "The Shepherd Of Souls", he usually carries a crook in one hand. This God embraces the belief of the People of the Isles that beings are born, live, die and are then reincarnated in a contineous cycle. Everone in the Isles will at some point offer devotions to this god, if only to ensure he will receive their souls and accompany them on their journey to the Otherlands to await rebirth.
Chandros is the keeperor protector of The Well of Souls through which souls looking to be reborn must pass. It is his job to guide the souls to this place, journeying through his realm. How long that journey takes depends on how Chandros judges the souls. Those he judges worthy pass on through the Well. Those he considers unworthy have to remain in his Realm until he decrees otherwise. |

All Priests Of Chandros are expected to preside over births, conduct marriage ceremonies, adminster death rites and conduct funeral services. They are also expected to administer spiritual aid where requested. They also educate thier flock in the "cycle of the Spirit" assuring grieving relatives that the departed's soul will live on in another form. Thier main mission is to protect the world from forces which disrute this cycle. As undead have been removed from the cycle, Priests of Chandros are particularly vigilant against such creatures.
