Barrtarr, God of merchants, craftsmen and tradesmen |
Bartarr is most often depicted as a Dwarf with a bag of gold in one hand and scales in the other. Sometimes he is shown as a young human clutching a purse. The Merchant Guild of Prydein use the bag of gold and scales motif on their coat of arms. As could be expected, he is most beloved of merchants, but travellers, thieves and even bards are known to also send him their devotions. He also inspires cultural exchange between races and nations and is often credited with the invention of the Common Tongue.

Festivals |
Barrtarr has one major festival. Two full moons after the Spring Equinox this takes place - his priests and followers observe a day of fasting followed by a day of feasting. He may have several smaller, more localised days dedicated to him throughout the year too. |
Priests of Barrtar give spiritual guidance, conduct wedding ceremonies, attend last rites and funerals if asked. These priests also love to be in the center of a bargaining situation. This can range from agreeing sums of money for the giving of services to negotiating trade treaties for nations, to bargaining for hostage release to hosting peace conferences. They also try to keep trade routes open in times of war, free from excessive tax (at all times) and mutually profitable (they aren't bothered who actually owns the trade routes just as long as trade is going both ways).
